Intermediaries No. 2

Recipe:

1. Create looping fade between two colors.

2. Use a Floyd-Steinberg (or other) dithering algorithm to reduce the color palette down to 2-6 colors.

3. Re-scale/Down-sample the image to 50% using no-interpolation.

4. Page through frames and select the best re-imaginings of the intermediate colors in your fade.

Seems that tumblr’s image compression algorithm is getting more aggressive…

Process:

  1. Start with a solid color
  2. Index and dither using an arbitrarily chosen color palette
  3. Zoom 200% and crop
  4. Repeat 2 and 3
